BFA – University of Florida, Gainesville
I was born in Minnesota, but my family moved to Florida when I was very young. In high school I spent time surfing and building surfboards.
The wheel has always been my main tool and I learned fast. I first made pottery as an apprentice to Bruce Green in 1973. From early work and throughout my career I have made functional stoneware. My latest pieces are musical sculpture. I make horns that sound like bugles, fog horns, or conch shells and ocarinas that sound like whistles. Some horns are one-of-a-kind pieces with titles.
