Plein Air Demo with Debra Nadelhoffer
Saturday, September 6, 1-3pm
Plein air painting (painting on location) connects me to the sights, sounds and feeling of a scene. I can bring my memories of a place back into the studio through studies, sketches, and photos hoping to bring more to my work than merely copying a photograph. Since nature can be both chaotic and peaceful, I enjoy pulling underlying abstractions together into a cohesive representation of my impressions.
Plein Air Demo with Jim Felder
Saturday, September 13, 1-3pm
In recent years my work has taken on an intent that it did not previously possess: The preservation in images of the remnants of an outdoors I knew as a child and have enjoyed through the many years since. What I once pursued for its simple beauty has become my desire for its immortality.
Plein Air Demo with David Boyd
Saturday, September 20, 1-3pm
I use my plein air work as a way to “capture a feeling.” I use my camera to record a moment. Back in my studio I like to combine these into large scale paintings of those things I wish I could keep forever... old signs, decaying buildings, old cars, trucks and tractors, and beautiful rural landscapes. My paintings are my memories, and accordingly, some of my paintings take the angle of a child’s viewpoint; lower to the ground.
