Congratulations to Dorothy Jett Carter for her West African abstract West Side - East Side that was juried into the Detroit DNA Exhibition at the University of Michigan Detroit Center! This is an exhibition highlighting the work of the diverse artists and communities that make up the fabric of Detroit. This themed exhibition explores the strategies of innovation and experimentation used by local artists that embody the city’s creative spirit, with an emphasis on artists of color and those from communities that have been underrepresented.

RUSSELL WHITING FEATURED IN LOUISIANA PBS "ART ROCKS"
Steel sculptor and Louisiana native Russell Whiting walks PBS through his artistic career, from working with the blowtorch on off-shore oil rigs to developing the unique method of carved-steel sculpture he uses today. Russell is the current featured artist in our Sculpture Garden and a long time friend of the gallery.

ALLAN HOUSER HONORED AMONG INFLUENTIAL INDIGENOUS AMERICANS
Allan Houser was one of the first Indigenous artists to receive the National Medal of Arts in 1992, and his sculpture, Swift Messenger, sits in the President's Oval Office today.

In this tour of Hunter's home studio, he highlights his extensive collection of Scott Hill's work, including the conceptual paintings for the cover of his upcoming album Red Sky. The original artwork Scott created for Hunter's previous album Wild Blue can also be seen hanging in Hunter's studio, and was the beginning of their collaborative relationship.
