B.S. Covenant College, Chattanooga, Tennessee
Don Moore began woodworking at an early age as a boy scout, carving things with his pocket knife. As he progressed in his skills, he began constructing lamps, book holders, and other objects.
Eventually, Don joined the Army and served in the infantry in Viet Nam. He completed flight school and flew helicopters in the U.S., Egypt, Honduras, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.
In 1981 he returned to the states and was stationed at Ft. Campbell in Tennessee. He earned his BS from Covenant College and worked as a certified Orthotist for 20 years.
Don began turning wood on a lathe in 2015. Since retiring he is able to create beautiful pieces nearly every day.
Woodturning, for me, is an adventure. I am surprised when beautiful figures appear in the wood. It is a joyful experience to be able to create something.
